Telciu is a village located in Bistrita Nasaud County, in the Salauta Valley, at the flowing of Telcisor River in Salauta River, at south - east of the volcanic massif of Tiblesul and at south – west of Rodna. The locality of Telciu consists of villages: Telciu, Fiad, Telcisor and Bichigiu.
The village area is approximately 24,000 ha.
Telciu has a large surface of mountains and hills, covered with deciduous and coniferous forests and with pastures. Fauna is represented by a good collection of bears, wolves, deer and rabbits.
Worth visiting the Tăuşoarelor Spring Cave from Rodna Mountains; it is one of the longest caves in Europe and it has been recently included in the newly created National Park of Rodna Mountains.
Another important objective is the natural reservation "Tausoare-Zalion" from Gersca, which was declared a natural monument mainly because of the presence of gypsum crystals and some fossils of scientific importance found within them (insects, crustaceans and bats).
