Rucar is a locality on Dambovita Valley, situated in the northeastern side of Arges County.

It is bordered to the north by the county of Brasov, the village Nucsoara; the village of Leresti and the village of Valea Mare – Prevat to the west; the village of Dragoslavele to the south and the village of Dambovicioara to the east.

Rucar is located in the contact area of five units of relief, Iezer-Papusa Mountains, Fagaras Mountains, Piatra Craiului Mountains, Leaota Mountains and Rucar-Bran passage. At the contact between the western peaks of Iezer-Papusa Mountains and the Bran-Rucar-Dragoslavele passage was developed the depression of Rucar, which is crossed by Rausor and and Roghina rivers.

The hydrographic network of Rucar village is varied. All rivers are tributaries of Dambovita or Rausor, flowing at Rucar in Dambovita.

The area of Rucar is a wellspring of history, ethnography, traditions and customs, one of the most beautiful and picturesque areas of interest in the country, fascinating the viewers with wonderful landscapes.
