Suceava Plateau - on the south side of Dealul Mare - Harlau and the interfluve Moldova - Siret (Motca hill), separated by the wide valley of the Siret River and bordered to the west by the Moldova valley.

With all the morphological homogeneity of the Plain of Moldavia, of its area there can be delimited some subdivisions, of which, within the county of Iasi, are distinguished: Iasi Plain, Harlau - Hodora depression, Voinesti - Barnova depression and Prut passage.
Central Moldavian Plateau is situated in the south of the county of Iasi. The landscape is tall and massive, similar to the western county, because this tougher grezo-calcareous horizons. There are prevailing the convex hills and plateaus, disposed as a circle to the northern outskirts.
Iasi county territory belongs to the pronounced temperate - continental climate zone under the influence of Atlantic and Euro-Asian anticyclons.
The rivers are part of the two river basins - the Prut and Siret - most (60%) belonging to the Prut. The main courses, as succeed from east to west are: Prut, Jijia, Bahluiul, Miletin, Jijioara, Siret, Moldova. The south of the county belongs to the upper basin of Barlad (tributary of the Siret), the main courses being Vasluietul, Sacovatul, Stavnicul. Of all water courses, only Bahluiul and Jijioara develope entirely their basins inside the county boundaries, forming local rivers. The lakes fill the hydrographic network of the county, most of them being artificial, created by crossing the valleys. Most of them are in the hilly plain, forming a characteristic both in number and in their arrangement “in chain”.
