Caras-Severin is one of the most interesting counties in Romania, in terms of tourism, benefiting from a huge potential and almost unlimited possibilities of development. Beauties scattered within the county were assessed and recognized since Roman times, today the county being visited by many foreign tourists who come here either for recreation/ treatment or for an active vacation (hiking, rafting, mountain-biking, skiing), or for excursions. We mention the most important points of tourist interest related of this county:
· Baile Herculane Resort - located in the Cerna Valley, one of the most famous spas in Romania, located in a picturesque natural environment, with thermal waters, wide opportunities for hiking, modern accommodation in pensions and hotels.
· Semenic Resort - one of the best ski resorts in Romania. Semenic Mountains belong to the Southern Western Carpathians. Semenic has long periods of snow, which persist even 6 months a year. The resort has skilift, several ski slopes and sleighing. You can visit the natural reservations of Semenic - Caras Gorges and Nera Gorges.
· Muntele Mic Resort (1525 m) – not very known in Romania, this picturesque resort offers excellent skiing opportunities, with a lot the snow, which lasts until 6 months a year. The resort is located about 22 km from Caransebes, it has lift (with about 800 m of level difference). You can enjoy the ski slope of Valea Soarelui (about 1,600 m long), with nocturne, cable installations, spectacular trails of various difficulty levels, climbing, paragliding, fishing, mountain-biking, hiking and excursions (the Cross on Muntele Mic, Sucului Waterfalls, Saint Elias Skete, Narciselor Glade and the ruins of Ruieni).
· Poiana Marului resort - picturesque mountain landscape, resort located about 15 km. away from the village of Marul, in the foothills of Tarcu Mountains, at an altitude of about 680 m. It is a piece of heaven, an area of peace and relaxation, perfect for recovery, as well as for hiking, boat rides on the nearby lake.
· Nera Gorges - the most spectacular formations of this kind in the country, located in the south of Anina mountains; points of interest: the Natural Reservation of Nera - Beusnita Gorges, Beusnitei Waterfalls (the tallest waterfall measures 15 m), the spectacular Dracului Lake (unique green-blue water) and the cave of the same name. Dracului Lake was formed by the collapse of the cave ceiling and has a depth of approximately 9m, it is a natural karst lake with crystal clear water.
· Municipality of Resita – the seat of Caras-Severin County, a beautiful mountain town, situated on the middle course of Bârzava River. Among the most important tourist attractions we mention: Steam Locomotive Museum, History Museum of Banat Mountain, Orthodox Cathedral, Paul Iorgovici Library, French Library, German Library, Palace of Culture, Evangelical Church and the Synagogue.
