Description of the destination
Braila County is situated in the south-east of Romania, in the Romanian Plain. Tourists can enjoy great views over the Danube River which crosses the city of Braila, or they can enjoy the treatment in the Lacul Sarat resort, near the city of Braila.
Braila Municipality was documentary certified since 1350, and in the nineteenth century the city became the 2nd large industrial city of Romania (after Bucharest). Now Braila benefits from a large seaport, Museum of Ethnography, Museum of History (one of the largest in the country), House of Collections, memorial houses, churches and impressive monuments.
The Lacul Sarat resort, located at 5 km from the city of Braila, is named due to the high level of salinity of water, but also because the bank / mud from the bottom of the lake is used extensively in treating various diseases: rheumatic degenerative joints ( limb osteoarthritis, sciatica disorders of the spine and lower limb), inflammatory rheumatic joints (rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing), traumatic disorders, peripheral nervous system diseases (cervical and peripheral paralysis limbs, sciatica, neuritis, sequels after poliomyelitis, muscular atrophy and chronic myelitis), gynecological (ovarian failure, metritis, vaginitis, chronic cervicitis). The resort enjoys mineral water from the lake (sulphate, concentrated magnesian).
