Description of the destination
Azuga is one of the smallest resorts on Prahova Valley, enjoying an advantageous position between the famous resorts of Predeal and Sinaia, being situated only 36 km from Brasov and 135 km from Bucharest.
Azuga resort benefits from sub-alpine climate, being situated in the north of the county of Prahova, at the confluence of Prahova River with Azuga brook. The town is laying along the Azuga Valley, with about 3 km to the confluence with the Prahova Valley. Lately the resort has received massive investment in tourism, being inaugurated several hotels and pensions, including 5* units, which offer modern accommodation and impeccable services.
The attractions of the resort in winter are given by the ski solopes, Azuga being one of the most acclaimed ski resorts in Romania. It has gondola and ski lift. In Azuga you can enjoy sleigh rides in winter or carriage rides in summer, mountain biking, quad rentals, hiking or sightseeing.
Holy Trinity Church in Azuga was built in 1902-1903. In front of the church it is the Romanian Heroes Monument in the War of Independence in 1877-1878. In Central Park of Azuga we find the Ecaterina Teodoroiu Monument - "heroine of the Jiu" (fallen on fronts of World War I). Also interesting is the chapel of the Sorica Mountain.
